[Anya] sighed as a cool breeze licked her face, doing little to relieve the ever-present warmth of her skin. She leaned against the guardrail as Jetral spoke, her attention drifting out over the cityscape below, still silhouetted against the pale light of the rising sun. Curls of smoke clawed into the sky as shops sparked to life, no doubt belonging to the city’s many tinkerers and scientists. The sight made a smile pull at the Queen’s lips. She was nowhere near bright enough to create the things so many of her people could. As a child Anya had always had too much energy to stomach lessons for long. Books were all she’d sit still for, and even then she only craved stories. It was the product of science that Anya enjoyed, not the practice. Because of this, Jetral’s suggestion stung despite its obvious wisdom. Anya bit back her criticism and frowned, still looking down at the city. She hated the elf’s words, but recognized their worth—surely she’d be stupid not to enact change after such a royal fuckup—right? “So…” Anya was still frowning as she turned, arms folding over her chest, “What measures would then be considered too severe?” The Queen’s gaze flicked to the side as she bit her lip, weighing the options. Outright banning airships seemed far too draconic—perhaps simply great restrictions? Forced inspections? Though surely not everyone would comply happily. “Clearly we—I—overestimated the stability of these airships—perhaps it would be best to demand greater care in their assembly and require official inspections?” Anya paced towards the fountain, one finger tapping at her lips as she sifted through ideas. She was far from an expert on such matters, but experts could be collected should the need arise and from there, perhaps a plan could start taking a somewhat respectable shape. “An outright ban—if that’s what you’re suggesting—would severely limit our trading potential. But, there should be plenty of other ways to ground vessels that could pose a threat? Until, as you said, we can come to a greater understanding of what happened?”

THEMES OF OUR SETTING
In terms of classic fantasy, we pull a lot of the feel and worldly atmosphere from Lord of the Rings. Elesya is quite vast and full of adventure opportunities. Humans are a force to be reckoned with and they have lead the path of technology, inspiring quite the Steam Punk Era. Think of victorian steam meets medieval fantasy and marry them together. Marked is certainly not limited to these few either.
